Cyber-tennis is a typically French method, born in 2000, by the publication, by its author, Sauveur CUOMO of two funda
mental works, bases of this interactive pedagogy which grows rich year by year by the contribution as of the its partners of which the practice players and trainers users.
It is a method of
mental preparation which approaches the player and his play in a total way, by leaving it main in its choices and its options. It is distinguished from the other similar methods by nonthe conditioning of involved which can thus remain, at every moment, Master of itself and its decisions….
Its vocation first: To learn how to learn, on oneself, tennis, the world….
The method Cyber-Tennis is inspired of the work which upset the world of tennis in France in the years 1980. we want to speak about the splendid book of Thimothy GALLWEY: “Tennis and Psychism”. Having had in hand this book by chance and guide of his children in competition, the author of this method devoured it and read again it many and many times.
In parallel, it tested during, initially on itself, then with players, the concepts advanced by Thimothy GALLWEY. … During 20 years the author sought a pedagogy of lesson of these concepts. It is only in 2000 that a structured and logical method was born with the club of tennis of the OCC Calas, in Cabries close to Marseilles, it was CYBER-TENNIS, the first method of really French
mental preparation.
In the traditional drive, gestural and tactical, Cyber-Tennis allows the teacher to largely reinforce the memory of the play, to accelerate the training and to allow its restitution in competition in a natural, fluid way. It allows moreover, with this one, to clearly distinguish the defects and the errors due to a gestural insufficiency or of placement, purely
mental error (lack of
attention, memory of the epic related to an interior fear, with a psychological brake).
By this selective observation, the teacher will gain much in time and effectiveness. He will be able to devote himself entirely to the constitution, at the pupil, of the tactical diagrams of play, to the engrammes like one says, so that the pupil has the tennistic memory richest possible. He will be able to thus work on the strong points of the pupil while gumming with effectiveness the fear of this last on his weak points.
In competition, the player practicing Cyber-Tennis, uses the play like a vast field of investigation allowing him to rise internally in all the
mental power ranges:
* Sufficient oxygenation, whatever the intensity of the effort, by the breathing integrated into gestural and into displacement.
* The management of the error and the fault all along the match
*
Mental and body relaxation as well with the exchange as during idle periods.
* Absolute
concentration.
* Active imagination allowing the installation of tactics of play, when the need is felt some.
* The will to overcome in the tripe and either in the head as it is too often the case.
* Cyber-tennis uses very demolished like enriching. The player will live the defeat without being destroyed by it, as an excellent lesson from which all becomes again possible… In the same way for the victory. Once the victory obtained and the blurred joy, the player will forget it at once in order to be fully concentrated on his next experiment in competition…
In the life of the every day, Cyber-Tennis, by qualities which it develops on the court, contributes to improve considerable faculties which seem not easily perfectible by other techniques.
The practitioner will be able, thus, to see growing, at his place, patience, tenacity, mood equalizes, vis-a-vis the events even most annoying, the interior harmony or congratulated, the desire and courage to undertake to test, the tolerance towards itself and others, the memory, the
mental projection of precise objectives and maturely contemplated by this faculty which the user rediscovers: capacity to imagine and carry out concretely the visualized
action.
To summarize in a few words, we will say that the user of the method, if it is convinced and persevering, will be able to find extraordinary imaginative faculties of the child who, unconstrained and without fear, can learn how to walk in a few months. Technique which would require of an adult placed under the same conditions of the years of sufferings and falls. In short, Cyber-Tennis, method noetic, allows at the practitioner, the setting in synergy of the two brains: the left, analytical hemisphere and calculator and the brain right, synthetic, imaginative and intuitive.
If the first results are not long in appearing, it does not remain about it less than like any method of
personal development, Cyber-Tennis requires a great continuity. Cyber-tennis becomes gradually the play itself and does not ask any effort: just of continuity in the thought. Not to let itself distract by the environment “tennis you saw me”, worse destructor of the tennistic vocations, is the first condition of success. After some matches disputed by using the method Cyber-Tennis, the player will be able to withdraw himself from the harmful effects of a medium too often negative and surface to distinguish essence: to manage to produce on the court, best of itself…
The method Cyber-Tennis can be practiced effectively in the child as of eight years in condition of being guided by his/her parents (see method Cyber-Tennis children parents in double writing.) Éduquer the child without the parents not calling themselves in question in their manner of accompanying it in competition would be to waste much time to lead finally to the failure. Cyber-tennis was thus carried out with the aim of bring effective answers as well to the parents guides as to the child player. The two entities must evolve/move together under penalty of failing in what you will allow us to describe as “so beautiful company”. Because, rather than to be a rigid and directing instructor, constantly considering play technical or tactical of its offspring, is not worth it to better leave that to the teachers to deal only with essence: the behavior of the child in competition. Cyber-tennis allows that. By allowing that, it improves the tennistic relations largely children/parents.
As a practitioner Cyber-Tennis the relative will have the most beautiful role which one can imagine around the courts: to allow the child to grow by tennis. He to also allow to better reconcile, on the psychological level, tennis and studies; to play without fear, free to imagine and undertake without fearing the fault and the defeat in this marvellous sport: our tennis…
